The Canine Coordinator provides training, and technical support to the kennel staff, and regional canine coordinators. The Canine Coordinator also gathers and tracks the programís statistics. There are 52 kennels throughout the agency along with 124 kennel staff personnel.
These kennels are represented in all regions of CID. Twenty-three kennels have pack-tracking canines only. Eighteen kennels incorporate both pack canines and scent-specific canines. Six kennels have narcotic canines, and five kennels have scent-specific canines only. Tracking canines are a key resource for security staff during escapes and providing assistance to local law enforcement agencies.
