Malika Te was selected to become TDCJ’s Governmental Affairs director, responsible for oversight and coordination of the agency’s legislative activity, effective September 1.
Te began her legislative career as an administrative aide for Representative Craig Eiland in 2009. She quickly worked her way up, ultimately serving as legislative director. In 2014, she accepted a position as budget analyst with the House Appropriations Committee, responsible for monitoring and analyzing budgets and fiscal policy issues of more than 50 state agencies, including TDCJ.
Chief of Staff Jason Clark commended Te on her appointment saying, “Malika’s wealth of knowledge and diverse background dealing with key funding issues through several legislative sessions will be a huge benefit to TDCJ. We’re excited to have her aboard.”
Te holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Texas A&M University.
